Obituary

Mother Cornelia Watkins was born March 17, 1933 in Berkley, Alabama to the late Reverend Willie Ed and Annie Brazelton.  She departed this life quietly and peacefully at her residence on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined Acklin Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Berkley, Alabama where she became an active member of the Steward Board and later a Mother of the Church.  One of her greatest joys was getting baptized at the age of 85.

Over the years she enjoyed shopping, wearing hats of all styles and colors, growing flowers, reading, working crossword puzzles, watching the Lone Ranger and Matlock, and listening to good gospel singing.

Mother Cornelia was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mr. Pearl Lee Watkins and from that union came seven children.

She leaves to cherish her memories: seven children, Helen J. Watkins and Gloria Watkins of Big Cove, AL, Ervin (Roslyn) Watkins of Nashville, TN, Patricia (John)Washington of Berkley, AL, Marie Watkins of Birmingham, AL, Terrence (Martie) Watkins of Bristow, VA and Diane Nance of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Tammie Watkins who nursed her daily, Michael Watkins, Aaron Fulton, Cepedria Nance, Taylor Watkins, April Taylor, Mikah Nance, and Sidney Nance; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Brazelton and Doris Brazelton of Huntsville, AL; one aunt, Lorene Wade of Huntsville, AL; four sisters-in-law, Bernice Hester, Carrie Watkins, Juanita Brazelton, and Peggy Brazelton of Huntsville, AL; two brothers-in-law, William Watkins and Archie Watkins of Huntsville, AL; and one goddaughter, Vernice Wright of Huntsville, AL; her senior citizen lady friends whom she loved dearly, long-time friend Sarah Bone and special cousin Vivian Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
