Obituary

Cora Bell Patton Farris, daughter of the late George McCrary and Willa Townsend McCrary was born on March 14, 1938 in Madison County.  She departed this life on May 23, 2021 surrounded by her family.

She received Christ as her personal savior early in life and became an active member at Zion Progress Missionary Baptist Church.

She was a hard worker and instilled this trait in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bell gave 47 years of service in the Head Start Program initially as a cook, then became a teacher's aide and after certification she became Supervisor/Manager of the Area 7 Head Start Site in New Market, AL.  She had the most popular classroom in the Area 7 Site.

Bell was a pianist for Zion Progress, Meridianville Bottom, Beaver Dam, Hopewell, Briar Fork, Little Shiloh and Mud Creek Association at one time during her life.

She was a farmer, ticket salesperson for WEUP concerts in the 1960's, hairdresser, soloist and bus driver.

During her life she was a seamstress, sending clothing overseas to children in need.

Her legacy will be remembered as a person of character, generous heart, her love for God, loyalty, kindness, never meeting a stranger, and who could forget her smile.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucy Mae Drake and son, Willie C. Patton.

Bell leaves to cherish her memory, four children, George (Gwen) Patton, Mary "Bonnie" (Dewayne) Kelley, Shelia Patton, Sharon Drake, Bebley Farris (Lee) Jones;  grandchildren: Xavian Patton, Lyncohea (Cedric) Corn,  Amoretta (Marlon) Hugle, Michael (Laquita) Baker, Christopher (Tsedey) Patton, Cedric Ford, Jasmine Patton, Tiara Drake, and Macario Kelley, six great grand-children; and a  host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
