Barbara Dianna Freeman , 75, died peacefully Friday, August 7, 2020, at Huntsville Hospital after a battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She was born on June 13, 1945 in Huntsville, Alabama but early in her youth the family moved to Columbus, Mississippi.  They lived in Columbus through her high school years, and upon graduation, along with the family, she then moved to Holly Springs, Mississippi where she attended and later graduated from Rust College.  With the successful completion of her studies at Rust, Barbara then moved to Huntsville, Alabama to begin teaching where she impacted the lives of so many.

Over her teaching career Barbara was known as an esteemed education professional, and is a proud member of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  Over her storied career in education with Huntsville City Schools, Barbara had the opportunity to touch and be touched by the lives of countless students, fellow educators, generations of families, and friends.  Her career spanned over 30 years, where she taught various subjects and grade levels before retiring in 2000.

Barbara will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, sister, and caring friend, forever defined by her dedicated service, support, and love of all.  Grounded in a foundation of faith, she lived by the guiding Christian principles of love for all mankind and used God's anointing in her life as a beacon as she traveled through the world. The numerous accounts of heartwarming tales from those who encountered her are a testament of her legacy, and those works can be witnessed by the outpouring of love from family and friends.  She will forever be known as a person of generosity, kindness, and compassion.

Barbara is preceded in death by: her parents, Willie and Sallie Mosley; and brother Joseph Willie Mosley.  She is survived by: her loving daughter, Dianna Nicole Morton (Billy) of Yorkville, IL; sister, Patricia Falkner Lewis (James) of Omaha, NE; nephew, Joseph Antonio Mosley (Donya) of Virginia; and niece, Adrienne Denise Falkner (Cal) of Omaha, NE; great nieces and nephews, Kameron Mosley, Joseph Mosley Jr., Isaiah Mosley, Kaitlyn Mosley, Malik Whitner, Saniyah Sullivan, and King Sullivan; and a host of numerous other family members, friends, and acquaintances that provided additional sources of joy, laughter, and memories throughout her life.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home. A private service will be held for family on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
