Annie Mae Holley Burks was born to the late Mr. John Alex Holley and Mrs. Lucy Smith Holley on June 16, 1934 in Limestone County, Alabama.  She departed this life on August 4, 2020.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the New Hope CPCA Church.  It was at this church that her gift and calling were recognized, encouraged and cherished.  She loved to sing, and therefore, joined the choir where she served as soloist and sang alongside of her sister and brother.  She loved the Lord and did not mind sharing her testimony.  Those that were close to her knew and often heard her singing and praying for her family and others.  Her favorite phrase was, "Lord Have Mercy!"  She always had a heart for calling, visiting, and sharing with the sick and shut in.  She found joy in sharing the fruit of her labor with those in need.  This mother's love for Christ paved the way for each of her children to have their own personal relationship with Christ and is her greatest gift to each of them.

Annie Mae was a faithful employee and worked with several laundries and dry cleaners in the Decatur and Huntsville areas.  Her skills were always in demand and she could choose her place of employment as she so often did.

She was preceded in death by: one son, Sammie L. Griffin and five siblings:  Pleas Smith, Parthenia Holley Dent, John Henry Holley, Rev. Roosevelt Holley, and Rachael Holley Ervin.

She is greatly loved and survived by:  her six daughters, Bobbie Moore (Alfred), Huntsville, AL, Charlotte Slaughter, Huntsville, AL; Jessie Lancaster, Woodland, AL, Queen Tucker, Decatur, AL, Peggy Wright, Triana, AL; Felecia Langham (Chris), Madison, AL; four sons, Terry Holley (Cathy), Harvest, AL, Marcus Burks and Jamal Burks, Huntsville, AL and Toney Holley, Triana, AL; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three loving sisters, Lucille Rice, Pearl Holley, and Mattie Holley; one sister-in-law, Maxine Holley; four loving brothers, John Holley (Marianetta), Alex Holley, Rev. Charlie Holley (Cassandra), Wilson Holley (Barbara; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside service for Mrs. Annie Mae Holley Burks will be Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope #2 Cemetery (Madison, AL) with Pastor Earnest Bailey officiating.
