A Life Well Lived

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."  ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time to be Born

Louis Johnson Elliott , affectionately called "Bo" by his friends, was born December 30, 1932, in Woodville, Alabama.  He was the oldest child of the late Harvey Lee and Beatrice Elliott. He was the only son and last survivor of his siblings, Mabel, Gussie, Bernice, and Ruth Helen.

A Time to Love

He met his late wife Oneda when they were serving in the U.S. Army at Ft. McClellan. It was love at first sight. They united in Holy Matrimony, and their union was blessed with three sons. He submitted to the will of God and joined First Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended Sunday School and worship services faithfully.

A Time to Build

Louis served 25 years in the United States Army, where he became an expert marksman and received numerous medals and commendations.  After retiring from the Army, he worked for Intergraph Corporation. Playing golf was Louis' favorite pastime. He was an accomplished golfer who competed in tournaments and won numerous trophies. He watched golf on television daily. We often joked that he had adopted Tiger Woods as his fourth son and that he only needed two television channels- the Golf Channel and HGTV. He had a talent for building, remodeling, and landscaping. His yard was always immaculately maintained.

A Time to Die

Louis Johnson Elliott departed this earthly life on Friday, April 9, 2021, at his home.  He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, David Wayne Elliott (presently working in Kuwait), Warren Paul Elliott (LaTeisha) of Huntsville; godson Christopher Moore, of Huntsville; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, and his son Michael Louis Elliott.
