John Washington, Jr. was born January 11, 1952, in Birmingham, AL to the late Mr. John Washington, Sr. and Mrs. Ella Fuller Washington.  He departed this life quietly and peacefully at Huntsville Hospital on Monday, August 16, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his stepson Carlos Moore.

He attended Hazen-Harrell High School in Marion Junction, Alabama.

"Woot" , as he was known by his family and friends, frequently traveled to Huntsville and in 1987 landed a job with Jack Trucking where he met friends who introduced him to the former Patricia A. Watkins. After meeting Patricia, Berkley became his new home. In the country he loved being able to be outside in peace, fishing, working outside, hunting, feeding the cows, and cutting grass. He always loved playing cards, watching tv, and taking a cruise down the main strips of Berkley.

He leaves to cherish his memories: the love of his life, Patricia A. Watkins of Berkley, AL; four children, Judy Ann Washington, Regina Washington, and John Washington III of Marion, AL, and Curtis Washington of Uniontown, AL; fifteen grandchildren and; eight great-grandchildren; six siblings, Mary Frances Washington, Charles Washington and Tommy Washington all of Marion Junction, AL, Ella (Greg) Irvin of Tuscaloosa, AL; Anita Moore of Selma, AL, and Demetria (Crispin) Belton of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside service for Mr. John Washington, Jr. ("Woot") will be at 12:00 p.m.  Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Berkley Community Cemetery.  Public viewing will be  Friday, August 20, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
