Reverend James Otha Steger was born December 29,1956 to Otha Steger and Edith Evans Steger. He was called from this life to eternal life on February 8, 2021.
James attended Brownsboro School. He enlisted in the United States Army at age of 17 and continued his military career in the National Guard. James had a successful career with the City of Huntsville, retiring after 33 years of service.
James confessed Christ as his Savior and Lord and joined Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor F. T. Blackwell. He later changed his membership to Pentecostal Lighthouse. He ultimately united with New Shiloh Church Ministries, where he was ordained as a minister under the late Pastor Kenneth Tate.
Those who preceded him in death were his parents, Otha and Edith Steger, siblings, Amanda Twitty, Martha Ragland, Marie Steger, Delores S. Garner and Clifford Steger, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving children, Frederick Fletcher, Cornelius Steger and Sh'antiqua Hampton; three bonus daughters, Rachel Garth, Brandy Garth and Teia Fletcher; nine grandchildren, Catais Fletcher, Arin Fletcher, Aubrey Fletcher, Kendra' Fletcher, Majesty Fletcher, Kensley L. Moore, Kelsey F. Hampton, Kendall B. Hampton and A'ryiah C. Steger; six sisters, Mary Crowder, Emma (Eddie, Sr.) Ragland, Elizabeth Robinson, De'borah (Danny) Baker, Denise Steger and Vinda (Carl) Baker; six brothers, Leo Steger, Donnie Evans, Larry (Leda) Evans, Thomas Reese, Vernon Steger, Frank C. (Tonya) Steger; one aunt, Louise (Wes) Williams; one sister-in-law, Gladys Steger; a special friend, Jean Eason; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. James Otha Steger will be Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
