Gordon Lee Humphrey was born in Madison County, Al December 23, 1950 to the late Willie Walter Humphrey and the late Laura Derrick Humphrey. Gordon was the youngest of nine children. He attended Indian Creek Elementary, Mt. Carmel and SR Butler High School. Gordon accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Ruth Primitive Baptist Church, now known as Eagles Nest Ministries.

Gordon worked at Huntsville Manufacturing for many years. Although, Gordon was a jack of all trades, he enjoyed roofing, painting, as well as dabbling into carpentry.

Before his health failed years ago, Gordon enjoyed arts, crafts, ornamental molding, cooking, grilling and restoring old cars and trucks.

Gordon has left to cherish memories his daughter, Katlin Ellison, grandchildren Kyleigh, and Jamiah, step daughter, Jackie Fearn; all of Huntsville, AL, brother, Otha Humphrey, sister, Beatrice J. White; both of Huntsville, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; best friends who remained close with Gordon on his journey were James Moore, Clifton Davis, Jose Gordon, and Tim Kent.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Walter Humphrey and Laura Derrick Humphrey, brothers, Allen, Archie, Jerry, and Johnnie and sisters Julia and Lela.

Gordon peacefully departed this life on Sunday February 20, 2021 while scriptures were being read to him.

Graveside service for Mr. Gordon L. Humphrey will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Saint Ruth Cemetery with Pastor Theodis Acklin officiating.

Family visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
