The Lord Blessed the late Mrs. Elbealor Weeden Jamar and Mr. Walter Hoover Jamar, Sr with a baby boy they named Arthur Nick. He was born on December 29, 1938 in Madison County, Alabama. Arthur transitioned to be with the Lord on February 28, 2021.

"Autha", as he was referred to by his family, was not your typical little boy. He had knowledge beyond his years. As the youngest of 7, he was mischievous, inquisitive and athletic. His siblings spoiled him by not allowing him to do daily chores of picking cotton and working in the fields. They also protected him from getting "whoopings" after mischievous deeds.

While attending Councill Training School, Arthur played football and basketball. But most of all, he met the love of his life, Sarah Elizabeth Jones, who he married in 1961. And to this union four children were born.

After graduating, he attended Alabama A&M College where he also found himself working in the Physical Facilities and Auxiliary Services Departments until retirement over 40 years later.

Arthur grew up in the church, but it wasn't until his early adulthood when he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Morris Chapel P. B. Church. He was dedicated and very active in the Male Chorus, Senior Choir, Sunday School, Trustee Board, Finance Committee and Deacon Board. He served as the Secretary Treasurer with the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge #179.

Fishing, working on antique cars, attending AAMU's sporting events and spending time with family were some of Arthur's favorite activities. He also enjoyed mentoring young men and giving advice to those that were in need.

Family was very important to Arthur . PaPa, as he was affectionately called, especially loved his grandchildren and expressed his love by spending quality time with them.  He often attended their school and sporting events as well as laughing, joking and clowning around with them. He also shared a special bond with his sister, Cora.

Arthur was preceded in death by: his brothers James Jamar, and Walter Jamar, Jr.; and his sisters Virginia Baldwin, Octavia Childress and Louise Jasper all of Huntsville, AL.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife – Sarah Jamar; children – Tara Walker, Rita Jamar, Regina Burden and Gerald Jamar all of Huntsville, AL; sisters – Maggie Robinson of Madison, AL, Cora Kelly of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren – Keylon Walker of Huntsville, Addison Walker of Baton Rouge, LA, Preston (April) Burden of Charlotte, NC, Prescott Burden of Arlington, VA, Kayla and Koby Jamar, both of Huntsville, AL; two great-grandchildren – Kasch and Kason Walker, both of Huntsville, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Graveside service for Mr. Arthur Jamar will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Meadowlawn Garden of Peace with Pastor Derrick Langford, officiating. Public viewing is Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
