Life's Journey Terrence Wayne Walton, M.D. "Terry" On January 23, 1965, God blessed Maria Ilene Jones Walton and Theodore Wayne Walton with the gift of a beautiful baby boy; Terrence Wayne Walton . Terry' as he was lovingly called completed his earthly journey on October 8, 2013 at his home in Manhattan, New York. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Preston and Mildred Jones and J. B and Carrie Walton; an aunt; Nellie Elizabeth Jones-Maxie; 3 uncles; Henry Hank' Mace Jones, David Hunter Jones, and James Walton; a loving Godmother; Norma Jean Powers; and Special Cousin; Timothy Pickett. He leaves to cherish his memory his Parents; Maria J. Walton and Ted W. Walton (Linda) Brother; Antonio Dewayne Walton (April); Sisters; Tamatha Maria Walton and Theadora DeShawnta Walton; Half-Sister; Seretta Slack; Step-Bother; Tarrius Sykes; Special Sister/Cousin; DeAnna J. Goodloe; 8 Nephews, 2 Nieces, 1 Great-Niece and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Terry's began his formal education at Mrs. Catherine Elliott's Pre-School, from there he attended Highland Elementary School, Davis Hills Middle School, and graduated with honors in 1983 from J. O. Johnson High School. He was baptized by Dr. Homer L. McCall at St. John AME Church in Huntsville, Alabama at an early age and served on many youth groups and organizations within the church. Terry chose to further his education by attending The University of the South at Sewanee, Tennessee. He graduated with a double major in English and Physics and a minor in Pre-Med, which included one year of study abroad at The University of Oxford in Oxford, England, United Kingdom. Terry then attended Harvard University Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts for one year before he was recruited by the medical program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. During his matriculation at Duke, he secured a research grant allowing him and a team of fellow students to research the correlation between the kidney and diabetes. Upon completion of his studies at Duke, he was awarded the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). After graduation, he did a general surgery residency at UCLA Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Following his residency, he managed an Urgent Care Clinic in Los Angeles until he decided to move to New York and enter a plastic surgery residency at New York Downtown Hospital in Manhattan, New York. Dr. Walton, being sympathetic and concerned for others, joined a team of physicians who raised funds and secured medicine and medical supplies to perform surgical repairs on children with cleft lip and cleft palates in Ecuador. Upon returning to the United States, he made Manhattan his home and opened his first private practice medical office on Madison Avenue and a Plastic and Reconstructive Clinic in Brooklyn, New York. He resided in Manhattan, NY until he went home to be with the Lord. Terry will forever be loved, admired and cherished for his dedication and service to mankind. Memorial service for Terrence Wayne Walton, MD will be Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Saint John AME Church (229 Church Street - Huntsville, AL 35801)with Reverend William C. Slade, officiant and Reverend Karnie Smith, eulogist. A native of Huntsville, AL, Dr. Walton was a practicing physician in New York, specializing in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
