LaToya Charlene Brooks was born in Huntsville, Alabama on July 15, 1982 to Rachel Brooks Strong and Jeffrey Scott. She transitioned to her heavenly home for her eternal rest on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jarvis Griggs.

LaToya gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Voice of God Fellowship Church under the leadership of Apostle John D. Harris, Jr. Her commitment to praise, worship, and building a relationship with God underscores the foundational importance of spirituality in her personal journey. LaToya was a shining light that will forever be remembered for her devotion, love, kindness and compassion. The immeasurable life lessons she shared will be forever ingrained in our memories and her outward demonstration of love is a testament to the size of her heart.

Those left to cherish and reflect on her inspiration are: her loving mother, Rachel Brooks Strong, with whom she shared a special bond; her father, Jeffery Scott; sisters, Carlean Brooks and Jaquilla Scott; brothers, Corey Brooks and Jeffery Brooks; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Ms. LaToya Brooks will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. from the Hurricane Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle John D. Harris, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood University Memorial Garden.

Ms. Brooks will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time at Hurricane Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
