Obituary

Mr. Roosevelt Sims was born on April 12, 1960 to the late Mr. Robert Lee Sims and Ms. Alice Hattie Hayes of Limestone County, AL. Roosevelt departed this life on March 29, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital.

Roosevelt accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very early age.

He was preceded in death by: the love of his life, Annie Burton; and siblings, Frank Edward, Juddie Benford, Gentle Hazlitt, John Hazlitt, Hanky Hayes, Johnny Hazlitt and Margaret Russell.

Roosevelt served in the United States Army for three years from 1979-1982. He was very loved and respected by everyone with whom he came in contact. "RoRo" as he was fondly called, will be truly missed. He will always be remembered by that smile and his crazy sense of humor. Roosevelt could fix anything dealing with a car and loved to work on them.   Even when he couldn't work on them anymore, he could still tell you what was going on with them. He was also a great cook. He loved to get in the kitchen and fix a good home cooked meal. He was a person who loved his family and loved to tell you about old times of how he got the name RoRo. He was full of life and loved to joke and act up.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: son, Antonio (Shaquella) Burton of Huntsville, AL; six grandchildren, Antonio Burton, Jr., Sa'Riyah Similton, Za'Kariyah Rice and A'niyah Burton all of Huntsville, AL, and Avante Burton and Avant Burton of Austin, TX; two brothers, Tom L. Hazlitt and Robert Hayes of Huntsville, AL; five sisters, Edna (Joseph) Dailey, Ruby Hazlitt of Huntsville, AL, Frances Sims, Estella (Percy) Neal of Atlanta, GA, and Gwendolyn Sims of Memphis, TN; eight brothers-in-law, Marvin Burton, Melvin (Gloria) Burton, Jerry Burton, Gregory Burton, Corey (Shilaunda) Burton and Michael Burton all of Huntsville, AL, Timothy Burton of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, FL and Robert (Gwendolyn) Burton of Aurora, CO; one sister-in-law, Vanessa McCurdy of Huntsville, AL.  He also leaves special memories with Jason Burton, Carolyn Rice and Sanchez Rice of Huntsville, AL and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
