Obituary

Larry Wayne Battle was born to Sirlean Louise Battle and Herman Finklea on July 25, 1961 in Madison County, AL.   He was called from this life to eternal life with his Lord and Savior on November 2, 2021.  Those who preceded him in death were: his mother, Sirlean Battle; grandparents, John Thomas, Sr. and Velma Nance Battle; and his uncle, John Battle, Jr.

Larry confessed Christ as his Savior and Lord on October 28, 1973 and united with New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Pastor John L. Clay. Larry accepted his call to the ministry in 1981 and was ordained in 1983.

Larry was educated in the Huntsville City School system and graduated from J. O. Johnson High School.  He absolutely loved the J. O. Johnson Jaguars and the Alabama A& M Bulldogs.

Larry was employed with the Huntsville City School System as a Security Guard for more than 30 years until his retirement.  He attended Heritage Christian School to equip himself for the call God laid on his life. Larry was very knowledgeable of the Bible and its content.  He loved the Word of God. Larry never met a stranger.  He greeted everyone with a smile and always had great conversation starters.  He loved his God and loved people immensely.

Those remaining who will cherish his memories are: his father, Herman Finklea, Sr., Mobile, AL; daughter, Janaye Roberson, Nashville, TN; brother, Herman Finklea II, Mobile, AL; aunt, Bettye Kinnard, Harrisburg, PA; uncle, Joe L. Nance, Huntsville AL; a host of cousins and friends.
