Mother Charity
Lucille Humphrey
Feb 13, 1933 — Oct 31, 2020
Mrs. Charity Lucille Humphrey was born in Madison County, Alabama on February 13, 1933 to the late Richard A. Clay and Charity Vann Clay. She was married to Cleveland Humphrey and to this union six children were born: Robert Earl, Cleveland, Jr., Edward, Joyce, Mary, and Sandra. Their lives were further enriched when Clarene joined the family. She reached the sunset of her life's journey on October 31, 2020.
She was a devoted wife to Cleveland and a loving mother to her children. Her home was a place of welcome and hospitality for family and friends. Family gatherings were extra special. She was truly a kind, selfless, and compassionate woman.
She was a licensed professional cosmetologist and an entrepreneur. Acquiring and operating her own business, Felecia's Beauty Salon, brought her much happiness.
Throughout her life, she demonstrated a strong and unwavering faith in God through active involvement in the Meridianville Bottom Primitive Baptist Church. Throughout the years, she served as President of the Senior Choir, President of the Mother's Board, organized and chaired the Food Committee and the Sick and Bereavement Committee. She was member of Silver Jewel Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
Mother Humphrey's parents, Richard and Charity Clay, husband, Cleveland Humphrey, four children, Robert Earl, Cleveland, Jr., Joyce and Edward, all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Mary Jane Matthews, Sandra (Charles) Lee and Clarene (Robert) Patton; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
