Obituary

Margaret or "Margaret Ann" as she is more affectionately called by her siblings and other close family members was a sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend. She was a native of Shelby County, Alabama and the beautiful daughter of Mr. Fred and Mrs. Carrie Buchanon.

After graduating from high school, she came to Huntsville, Alabama to continue her education at Alabama A&M University and The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). While in high school she met Mr. Eugene Jackson, Jr. and they were united in holy matrimony in 1973. She was the devoted mother of Valerie and Eugene III (Jay); and a beaming proud grandmother of Kayin and Niara.

Margaret retired as a civil servant from the United States Army Missile Command as a Budget Analyst after 41 years and 9 months of employment. Margaret also worked part-time at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home for a number of years.

Margaret was a long-time member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, leader in church organizations, sung in the choir, and served on various committees. She also frequently attended St. Peter United Methodist Church in Madison, Alabama.

Margaret is predeceased by both parents and her sister, Dorothy Reynolds. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Jackson, Jr.; daughter, Valerie Jackson and husband Kelvin Williams (Alvin, Texas); son, Eugene (Jay) Jackson, III and wife Chanta (Joliet, Illinois); grandchildren, Kayin Williams (San Antonio, Texas) and Niara Williams (Alvin, Texas); two brothers, Willie Buchannon (Huber Heights, Ohio) and Preston Buchanon (Jacksonville, Alabama); two sisters, Murray Brown (Atlanta, Georgia) and Peggie Wallace (Bradenton, Florida), and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and other very special relatives and friends.

Margaret means "pearl". She will always be remembered as a true, highly prized gem that while on this journey strived to be humble, kind, and someone who helps others, and most importantly to love God.

Celebration of Life Tribute service for Mrs. Margaret B. Jackson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Fellowship Presbyterian Church – 3406 Meridian Street North, Huntsville, AL 35811 with Reverend Danny Jefferson officiating.
