Obituary

L izzie Mae Pruitt , a devoted member of St. Mark Baptist Church, was born on April 26, 1936, in Madison County, Alabama, to the late Charlie and Novella Ford. She peacefully entered eternal rest on July 29, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, family, and love.

On March 14, 1957, Lizzie united in marriage with the love of her life, John W. Pruitt. Together, they built a family grounded in strength, compassion, and enduring values. Lizzie was a pillar of her community and church, known for her kind spirit, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her four beloved sons: Ronnie Ford, Charles Ford, Henry Pruitt, and Keith Pruitt. She also joins her siblings in eternal rest: Willie Ford, Roosevelt Ford, Pauline Fearn, Luke Ford, Charlie Ford, Mary Ford, Elizabeth Ford, and Elvin Ford.

Cherishing her memory are her loving family members, three children, John T. Pruitt, Donnie Pruitt, and Linda Martin (Clinton), all of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, Calandra Parker, Marquet Rowsley, Doronda Burkes (Keisha), Chelsea Harris, and Nate Harris, all of Huntsville, AL, Jeremy Patton of Florida, and Christopher Stewart and Candice Martin, both of Madison, AL. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever honor her legacy.

Lizzie Mae Pruitt lived a life of grace, faith, and resilience. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love her.

Funeral service for Mrs. Lizzie Mae Pruitt will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 12:00 PM at St Mark Baptist Church with Elder Dr. John L. Clay, eulogist.  Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.  Mrs. Pruitt will lie in repose at St. Mark Baptist Church one hour prior to funeral service time.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM  and Friday, August 1, 2025 from 8:00 AM-10:00 AM at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
