Juanita Readus Collier was born on September 28, 1953 to the late Harrison Readus, Sr. and Harriet Christine Readus in Huntsville, AL. God called her home on August 24, 2025, while she was surrounded by her loving family.

Juanita was a God-fearing woman who put God in the center of everything she did. She was compassionate and caring and it showed through her work ethic. She worked as a caregiver for 30 years ultimately making the decision to dedicate her time to support raising her grandchild. Later, she returned to work at Alabama A&M University and worked there for 20 years. In her spare time, she loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and dance.

Juanita was preceded in death by: her husband, Milton Collier; her four brothers, Harrison Readus, Jr., Joe Readus, Lawrence Readus, and Leverne Readus.

She is survived by: her loving daughters: Harriet Readus-Wilson (Nicholas) and Tryphena Readus Moore (Vincent); grandchildren: Shonterra Readus, Travian Readus, Christopher Readus, Leonard Davis, and Chance Mcclendon; bonus grandchildren, Anne (Damien), Zayden, Zion, and Zayla Bright; two sisters: Alma Baker and Denise Baker; four brothers: Patrick Readus, Larry Readus, Chester Readus, and Danny Baker; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Juanita R. Collier will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
