On October 4, 1948, in Scottsboro, Alabama, God blessed the world with one of His most precious creations, sending a radiant and joyful soul to bring life and laughter to the Edmonson family and all who would be fortunate enough to know her Joyce Marie Edmonson was born to the late George C. Edmonson and Margaret Cross Edmonson, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she touched.
Joyce took the Master's hand on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and entered into HIs promise of eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents: George C. Edmonson and Margaret Cross Edmonson; grandparents: George E. Edmonson, Cora Edmonson and Mattie Lou Barkley; siblings: Claude (Lucille) Edmonson, Fred Edmonson, James Edmonson, Cora E. Stewart, Sara E. Simpson, and Shelia (Charles) Elliott; nephew: Frank "Eric" Edmonson, and other loved ones too numerous to name.
In her spare time, Joyce loved cooking, family, and shopping. Joyce caught the eye of Walter Lee Ford. They shared forty-five (45) years of love and marriage. She was employed as an inspector with SCI for many years until her retirement.
Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love to her blended family. She is survived by her devoted husband: Walter Lee Ford; two step-daughters: Tressy Ford and Katrina Walden; sisters: Elizabeth Edmonson, Eula Edmonson both of Scottsboro, Alabama, and Mary Lisa (Greg) Edmonson-Thornton of Louisville, Kentucky; brothers: John Edmonson of Huntsville, Alabama and Carlos Edmonson of Louisville, Kentucky; sister-in-law: Lottie (Henry) Hayden of Huntsville, Alabama; brother-in-law: Charles Ford of Pontiac, Michigan; special children: Kelmin and Gabby Joyner whom she raised as her own; the apples of her eye, Brandon (Jessica) Cobi, Jadaya and Alonza; special friend and hairstylist: Renzie Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Joyce Ford will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Carl Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mrs. Joyce Ford can be viewed prior to funeral service. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 beginning at 9:00 A.M until 8:00 P.M. from the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
