November 18, 1944 – September 22, 2023
Mrs. Joann West, 78 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023. She was the third child born to the late Silas Dixon and Josephine Holden Dixon.
A devoted servant of Jehovah God, Joann symbolized her dedication on March 31, 1968. She enjoyed preaching the good news about God's Kingdom to all she had contact with. She loved her family and demonstrated it by frequently visiting and calling them sharing some good news about God's Kingdom each time. She would also share a small gift or card to uplift and encourage a loved one when she knew they were struggling. Joann regularly studied the bible and was very knowledgeable about the teachings found in it. Due to her vast knowledge of the bible various neighbors would come to her to get a clearer understanding of the teachings found in the bible, some of which dedicated themselves to Jehovah God as well. Throughout her illness, she would still have very valuable input on bible discussions held at the Valleyview Nursing Home where she resided.
Joann joined in loving matrimony with Wilson West on August 24, 1964. Together they raised three sons.
She is survived by her husband: Wilson West; three sons; Gary Wayne West (Shirley Daniels), Terrell Aundrey West (Tammara McLin), Wilson Antonio West (Kelita); one brother Silas Roosevelt Dixon (Priscilla); one sister Sarah Leigh Dixon; nine grandchildren; Gary Wayne West Jr., Mario West, Antonio West, Keisha West, Akera West, Laporsha West, Shaterra Dominique West, Domineke Antonio West and Jasmine Vargas; three very special nieces that were like daughters to her, one being her spiritual daughter; Janice Dixon Donegan, Victoria Lynn Dixon and Audrey Denise Dixon and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a grandson: Keith West; one sister Mattye Lou Dixon; one brother Sam Willie Scott; and her parents, Silas Dixon and Josephine Holden Dixon.
