Obituary

Fritchie Lee Holmes III , fondly referred to by his family and friends as "MAN" or "Baby Bro.". He had his roots anchored in the Christian faith and nurtured by his parents, Fritchie Holmes, Jr. and Valerie Nance Holmes. He was the baby of two born to this union. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fritchie Holmes, Sr and Annie Pearl Holmes, and Alphonso and Ethelene Lacey Nance.

Fritchie was educated in the Huntsville school system.  He played basketball for J. O. Johnson High School for one year, where he played guard. He graduated from Lee High School in 1995.

Fritchie enjoyed sports. He played little league basketball and football for the Huntsville Northern League for several years; where he played running back in football and guard basketball.

Fritchie began employment with Daimler Chrysler in Huntsville, AL. While working for Chrysler, he was transferred to St. Louis, Missouri. He was later transferred to the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area where he worked as a shipping clerk until his death.

Fritchie attended both Chelsea Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America and First Missionary Baptist Church with his parents. He joined his father's church, Chelsea Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America under the leadership of Rev. Robert Stan Wood. Fritchie knew the Bible because he read it daily. Many times he would quote Scriptures from the Bible to his family and co-workers. People would randomly stop him to ask him about the Bible or talk to him about scriptures. Everyone assumed he would one day become a minister.

Fritchie was a member of Temple Lodge 98 where he received his 32nd degree.

In 1999, Fritchie met the love of his life. Two separate friends were attempting to hook him up with LaWanda Borom that didn't know they were both trying to connect him with the same girl. They eventually met in person introduced by Fritchie and LaWanda's friend Turi at the library on the campus of Alabama A&M University. Fritchie Holmes III and LaWanda Borom were united in marriage on August 20, 2005. To this union there were four children, Fritchie Lee Holmes IV, Faith Le'Shaun Holmes, Kyra Adriene LeAnn Holmes and Jalen Allen Holmes. Fritchie and LaWanda's family included a bonus daughter Felicity Gurley. Although Felicity wasn't their natural daughter, they still considered and treated Felicity as one of their children. Felicity often traveled with them. When the entire Holmes family, including grandparents, went on a 7-day cruise in 2019, Felicity was included.

Fritchie had the prettiest smile and the funniest personality. He loved to spend time with his family and in-laws. His family and friends fondly referred to him as MAN or Baby Bro. He had a special friendship with his sister, Tanya; his nephew, Aiden and niece, Alanna. He and his Auntie Deborah would call and harass each other.  She would teasingly call him "Boy" and he would respond that he was "Big Daddy". He also had a special friendship with his cousin, Latrice (Lynn). He loved his sister-in-law Charisma (Chrissy) and they often jokingly argued over who had the best football team between Alabama A&M or Alabama State. He was always happy to hear from his cousins in Chicago and would let everyone know whenever they called. He had a special friendship with cousins Antonio Reeves, William Reeves and Travis Reeves. Fritchie was loved and liked by all who met him. People were just drawn to him.

Fritchie loved his father and loved to spend time with him. They had a very special father son relationship. They both loved and rode motorcycles; and frequently attended and watched motorcycle races. They loved the 64 Impala, which his parents bought for him when he was 16. They were advent gun collectors. Fritchie would call his father every day. Monday thru Friday. His father could expect the telephone to ring at 1:30 PM when he got off from work. If he didn't go to work that day or on the weekends, he would call to discuss the motorcycle races or to make plans for the future. Fritchie never missed a day calling until he was admitted to the hospital.  Even though he was close to his mother, Valerie, he and his father just had a very, very special relationship. His parents and sister relocated from Delaware to Texas to be near Fritchie and his family.

He loved his brothers, whom he fondly called, "The Boys" ; Aldolphus Fritchard, Rhom Erskine, Raj Erskine, Derrick Perry (DP), Anton Donaldson, Tyrone Reeves and Daryl Brown. He fondly referred to another friend as "Big Whoppa", Tim Turner. He and his boys talked frequently and went on yearly trips. They traveled together to Las Vegas, NV and made several trips to Atlanta,Ga.

Fritchie leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife LaWanda Borom Holmes; children, Fritchie Lee Holmes IV, Faith Le'Shaun Holmes, Kyra Adrienne LeAnn Holmes and Jalen Allen Holmes; and a bonus daughter, Felicity Gurley; godson Armohn Erskine parents, Fritchie Lee Holmes, Jr. and Valerie Nance Holmes; sister, Tanya Holmes; nephew, Aiden Oliver; niece, Alanna Oliver; parent in-laws Wallace and Sharon Borom; sister-in-law Charisma Borom; the "Boys, his brothers, Aldolphus Fitchard (Le'Shaun), Rhom Erskine (Danielle), Raj Erskine, Anton Donaldson (Shalon), Derrick (DP) Perry (Keesha), Tyrone Reeves (Alison), Daryl Brown, Tim Turner (Deisha); aunt, Deborah Jenkins (Donald); uncles, Terrence Nance (Patrice), Melvin Holmes, Rodney Martin (Patricia), and Michael Holmes; cousins, Latrice Harrimgton, Dr. Wykena Jackson Davis, MD, Sheila Holmes, Torry Nance, Tirrell Jackson and Ricky Holmes, God parents, William and Lucille Reeves and Tommy and Ragi Erskine and a host of other relatives and friends.
