Elder Bobby
Joe Hereford
Mar 26, 1951 — Jul 22, 2021
Bobby Joe Hereford was born March 26, 1951 to the late John Willie and Theresa Gardner Hereford in Madison County, AL. He moved into eternal rest on Thursday morning, July 22, 2021. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by: four brothers, Lloyd, William, Oliver and Vernon Hereford, Sr.; and three sisters, Bernice Sims, Vashti Pruitt, and Lizzie Mae Hereford.
Bobby attended Farmer's Capital School in the New Market, Alabama community. As a young man he quit school and went to work for Webster Construction alongside his brothers and father. After an unfortunate accident that cost him his sight, Bobby worked with his brother at O. S. Hereford and Sons Construction Company as a carpenter. It was a joy to witness his progression in life as he transformed into being a better man; the man God designed him to be. As one could imagine, losing his sight was not an easy obstacle to overcome. However, he always kept pushing; moving forward. That was one of his most admirable traits, the ability to keep moving. In his eternal resting place, Bobby now gets to live eternally with clear vision. We are sure his view is beautiful . . .
On August 29, 1969, Bobby married the former Miss Betty Joe Readus. To this union were born two beautiful children, Marcus Sherlock and Tabaitha DeShanna.
In 1978, Bobby was baptized unto new life by the late Reverend James C. Moore at Lewis Chapel CPCA. He continued his fellowship and servant duties as the church progressed and moved to its current location under the pastorate of The Reverend Versey L. Jones. Bobby was ordained a Deacon and later an Elder. He worked tirelessly until the pandemic robbed him of the opportunity to worship in the sanctuary. He and Betty often had their own worship service as he listened to the Bible on CD.
Loving memories of Bobby will forever live on and be cherished by: his loving and devoted wife, Betty; two children, Tabaitha Hereford of Huntsville, AL and Marcus Hereford of Tuscaloosa, AL; two grandchildren, Champaigne (Tommy Bailey) Williamson of Tuscaloosa, AL and Alizé Garner of Huntsville, AL; two great grandchildren, Lei'Avienne Tymere and Lei'Eyreonne Esaias Bailey of Tuscaloosa, AL; five sisters-in-law, Willie Joe Hereford, Jo Ann Readus, Teresa Townsend, Annie Erskine and Fay Revere of Huntsville, AL; one brother-in-law, Malcom Readus; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
