Earl Horton , the youngest son of the late Yancy Savoy Horton and Pearl Cowan Horton was born on January 16, 1929, in Madison County, Alabama. He departed this life Sunday, October 24, 2021, in Huntsville Hospital.

Earl accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Earl was a member of Center Grove United Methodist Church. After the passing of Nancy, his beloved wife of 43 years, he transferred his membership to Lakeside United Methodist Church where he served as a cheerful greeter on Sunday mornings.

He grew up in the Pond Beat Community where he attended the Horton school and later matriculated from Council High School in Huntsville. Earl was employed by South Central Bell and retired after 50 years of service.

Earl was preceded in death by: his devoted wife, Nancy Copeland Horton; his brothers, Andy, Frank, Archie, and Leonard Horton; his sisters, Ophelia Horton Robinson, Pearl Horton Higginbotham, and Maggie Horton; and his eldest son, Earl Maurice Horton.

Cherishing his memories are: his beloved children, Eric Efrem Horton (Dalaina) and Deidre Horton-Daniel; seven grandchildren, Marlene Brooks, Ebony Robinson, Anitra Peterson, Tia Hereford, Savoy Horton (Demetria), Ishmael Daniel, Alex Horton and Benjamin Horton; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Earl Horton will be Friday, October 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Randy Kelley officiating.  Interment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Mr. Horton will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
