Funeral service for Mr. Charles D. Coleman will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. from the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Public viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 2:00 P.M.8:00 P.M. and Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 8:00 A.M. until funeral service time from the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Mr. Charles David Coleman (Chuck) was born to the late Mrs. Mary Louise Lee (Donaway) and the late Mr. Willie Coleman Sr. in Selma, Alabama. Charles departed this life on September 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Preceding Charles in death were one son Andre Coleman, three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Ann Fair, Mrs. Pearlie Maye Beasley, Ms. Barbara Kaye Coleman, and two brothers Mr. McArthur Jenkins, and Mr. Willie Coleman.
Chuck was a loving husband, father, son, brother, devoted uncle, and an extraordinary friend to many. He always had a warm and caring smile for all he encountered.
Charles graduated from Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Alabama where he played basketball. Upon graduating high school, Charles attended Walker College Jasper, Alabama, and the University of North Alabama, Florence, Alabama. After college, Charles served his country as a Radioman in the U.S. Navy. Later in life Charles was known as a very talented painter and was highly regarded for his expertise.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted loving wife, Rozalind of Huntsville, Alabama, one son Terran Smartt of Huntsville, Alabama, three sisters, Ms. Mattie Coleman of Chester, Virginia, Ms. Linda Colvin of St. Augustine, Florida, and Mrs. Darlene Lee-Jones (Lamont) of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers, Mr. William Coleman (Cynthia), of Huntsville, Alabama. and Mr. Samuel Coleman of Snellville, Georgia. A devoted mother-in-law Ms. Daisy Chandler, one sister-in-law, Dr. Vernita Chandler, and two brothers-in-law, James O. Chandler, Jr (Sheryl), and Derrick Chandler, all of Huntsville, Alabama. Charles will be especially missed by little Ashton Doran, who fondly referred to Charles as his best friend, and his lifelong friend Mr. Ricky Teague, both of Huntsville, Alabama.
