Wissel
Feb 21, 1948 — Feb 17, 2022
Catherine Pauline (Boren) Wissel passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 17, 2022, after suffering a number of strokes. Cathy, as most of her friends called her, was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who never stopped reaching out and helping the less fortunate.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward Wissel, her children Edward Wissel Jr, John Wissel (Lei Xu), Katrina Pearce (Rich), Thomas Wissel, Tammy Wissel, Rebecca Reynolds (Greg), Agnes Snodgrass (Zac), Ester Wissel; her grandchildren Bryan Wissel, Casey Wissel, Eli Morgan, Carson Pearce, Davis Pearce, Emily Morgan, Mason Pearce, Lydia Wissel, Sarah Reynolds, Ethan Morgan, Vivian Xu, Maddie Reynolds, John Wissel, Charlie Reynolds, Isaac Snodgrass, Oliver Snodgrass, Riley Snodgrass; as well as her brother David Boren (Wanda), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and unofficially adopted children. She was preceded in death by daughter Mihyun Wissel, her parents, Pauline and Amos Boren, and her siblings Virginia Ricky, John Boren (Cora), Anne Kohler (Philip), and Joseph Boren.
Cathy, was a devout Catholic who was involved in many different ministries including quilting, Kairos, Cursillo, rosary making, befrienders, and many others. She was a tireless gardener and canner that provided food to anyone in need - and many that didn't but loved receiving her fresh veggies. Cathy's door was always open to anyone in need no matter what the situation was. She was always there in a crisis and ready to do whatever needed to be done.
A memorial mass will be held for Cathy on Monday February 21, 2022 at 10am at St Joseph Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL followed immediately by a luncheon to be held in the parish hall. Cathy will be interred at Huntsville Memory Gardens in a private service with her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Cathy's name.
