Almaphine Burke was born January 22, 1940, in Toney, Alabama, to the late Randel "Big Daddy" Griskle and Annie "Big Mama" Griskle.

Alma accepted Christ at an early age in her youth. She transitioned peacefully from this life on August 29, 2024.

Alma attended Council Training in Normal, Alabama. She later attended J. F. Drake State Technical and Community College to pursue her career in Nursing.

In 1972, Alma migrated to Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1974, she obtained employment at Cleveland Clinic as a LPN specializing in cardiology.

Alma was a nurse for forty-six (46) years before retiring. Alma enjoyed thrifting, attending revivals, and spending time with her family and friends.

Her legacy will be remembered as a person with a kind, caring, generous, and loving spirit. She took pride in her family, especially her grandchildren.

Alma joins those that have preceded her in death: her parents, Randel "Big Daddy" Griskle and Annie "Big Mama" Griskle; siblings: Clarence "Bubba" Griskle, Dorothy Maples, and Robert "Bob" Griskle; her precious granddaughter: Janet Maples; aunt: Bertha Flemings and uncle: Clarence Griskle.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a devoted son: James Maples; daughter: Felicia Burke; nine grandchildren: Kevin Maples, Tanisha  Burke, Tiara (Damon) Carter, Tiffany Burke, Tiquasha (Antonio) Jackson, Tabresha Burke, Tamika (Maurice) Cumbus, Tevin Burke, and Tarique Burke. She also leaves to cherish her precious memories to a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service for Ms. Almaphine G. Burke will be Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Theodis Acklin officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Burke will lie in repose at Union Hill one hour prior to funeral time.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm in the Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
